John 1:1-5
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God..
He was with God in the beginning.
Through Him all things were made, without Him nothing was made that has been made.
In Him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind.
The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.”

DEVOTIONAL MESSAGE
SUNDAY
December 28, 2025
We will take the verses one at a time and look at what John has to say about Jesus in these five verses.
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.“
This verse tells us that Jesus is the Word, He was with God from the beginning, even before creation. It tells us of His divine nature and His relationship with God, as the second person of the trinity. JESUS IS THE WORD OF GOD.
“He was with God in the beginning“
This verse tells us of Jesus’ eternal nature. That He co-exists with God and that He was with God from the beginning
“Through Him all things were made, without Him nothing was made that has been made.”
God spoke (His Word) creation into existence. He sent His word forth and said create. JESUS IS THE WORD OF GOD. Jesus is the second person of the Holy Trinity. Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. ONE GOD, BUT THREE DISTINCT PERSONS. JESUS IS THE WORD OF GOD. JESUS AND GOD ARE ONE. God sent forth His Word and said create. Jesus was the instrument, the agent of creation.
“In Him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind.“
Jesus is the Word of God and scripture tells us that the Word became flesh and came into the world as life and light for all mankind. So He is both divine and human and He came for the salvation of mankind. That we might have life and have it more abundantly..
“The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it“
Jesus has promised he will never leave us. That He will always be with us even unto the end of time. Even though Satan and his evil ones are present in our world looking for a chance to harm God’s people. We do not have to worry or be afraid because the presence of Jesus is always with us and He has over come Satan and all evil in the world
SUMMARY:
John 1:1-5 identifys Jesus as the Devine Word of God. He was with God from the beginning and was active in all creation. He came that mankind might have life and have it more abundantly and as a divine light unto a dark world. Most importantly regardless of how dark our world may get or how much evil may be present in the world. As long as we stand strong in our faith and believe and trust in the Lord Jesus Christ He will see us safely home.
Amen
God’s Holy Blessings be with you all.
